Van Empel Is Back

Three-time cyclocross world champion Fem van Empel is returning to professional cycling after joining FDJ United-SUEZ with immediate effect.

The Dutch star stepped away from racing last winter, but her new team has confirmed that she will be part of a multidisciplinary project, potentially opening the door to a cyclocross comeback this season.

Van Empel won three consecutive elite world titles between 2023 and 2025 and has 50 cyclocross victories to her name.

No CX programme has yet been announced, but if Van Empel returns to the mud this winter, it would provide a major boost to the women’s international season.
