Belgian star Wout van Aert has confirmed that he will return to cyclocross racing this winter, although his exact programme has yet to be decided.
Speaking during a virtual group ride on Wednesday, the Visma–Lease a Bike rider revealed that he is looking forward to getting back into cyclocross following the conclusion of his road season.
The three-time cyclocross world champion explained that he has recovered mentally from a demanding road campaign and is enthusiastic about returning to the discipline in which he first made his name.
However, Van Aert has yet to confirm when or where he will make his first appearance, with discussions still to take place with his coach and team over his winter schedule.
His return will be eagerly anticipated by cyclocross fans, particularly with the prospect of renewing his rivalry with Mathieu van der Poel during the busy Christmas racing period.
