Joran Wyseure and Aniek van Alphen took the honours in Middelkerke on Thursday as the Noordzeecross traded its usual February slot for a night under the floodlights. The Belgian coastal race hosted round two of the Telenet Superprestige, just days before the European Championships in Zeddam.
Wyseure won the men’s race in 58:10, finishing four seconds clear of defending winner Michael Vanthourenhout, with Switzerland’s Kevin Kuhn third. It was a strong return for the Crelan–Corendon rider, who missed the Koppenbergcross through illness after winning at Heerderstrand earlier in the season.
In the women’s race, Amandine Fouquenet set the early pace before Van Alphen broke clear on the second lap. Inge van der Heijden led the pursuit but couldn’t close the gap, and Van Alphen took her first win of the season in 46:35. Van der Heijden finished 12 seconds back, with Denise Betsema third at 18 seconds to complete an all-Dutch podium.
The win puts reigning Superprestige champion Van Alphen back at the top of the standings, two points ahead of Van der Heijden. The series resumes at Niel on 11 November.
