Belgian cyclocross champion Marion Norbert-Riberolle has been forced to suspend her racing programme after being diagnosed with a heart rhythm disorder.
The 27-year-old Crelan-Corendon rider underwent medical examinations following unexplained drops in performance at Dendermonde and Ardooie, where she struggled in the closing stages of both races.
The examinations revealed an irregular heart rhythm, and Norbert-Riberolle has since undergone a successful medical procedure to address the condition. Her team confirmed that no further abnormalities were discovered.
The Belgian champion will now take several days of rest before gradually returning to training under medical supervision.
There is currently no confirmed date for her return to competition, meaning she will miss this weekend’s cyclocross races while concentrating on her recovery.
