Blanka Vas will leave Team SD Worx–Protime on 1 October 2026 after the team agreed to her request to move elsewhere, clearing the way for the Hungarian rider to join Lidl–Trek ahead of the new cyclocross season.
Vas has been with SD Worx–Protime since June 2021, but both sides have acknowledged that the past year has not produced the sporting results they had hoped for. Following discussions, the team agreed to release her early so she could begin a new chapter in her career.
Sporting director Danny Stam praised Vas’s development during her time with the team, highlighting victories in the Tour de France Femmes, Giro d’Italia Women and Tour de Suisse Women, along with her Under-23 world title and fourth place in the road race at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
“This season, however, has not delivered the sporting results that both sides had hoped for,” Stam said, adding that the team understood Vas’s desire to see what she could achieve in a different environment.
Vas said leaving had not been an easy decision, but that after several discussions all parties agreed it was the right time to take a different path.
The move means Vas can begin racing for Lidl–Trek from October, with her first appearances for the team expected to come during the 2026–27 cyclocross season.
For cyclocross fans, the switch adds another point of interest ahead of the winter campaign, with Vas remaining one of the most versatile and exciting riders in the women’s field.
