Toon Aerts suffered a double kneecap fracture and a fractured scaphoid after crashing during the final stage of the Tour of Denmark. His Race team, Lotto Intermarché recently released a statement which read:
“Last week, Toon underwent another surgical procedure due to a complication related to the double knee fracture he sustained at the Tour of Denmark. As a result, his recovery has been slightly delayed, but the surgery went well and Toon is once again fully focused on what lies ahead.
He is being closely monitored by the Lotto-Intermarché medical team and together with the CharlesLiegeois Roastery CX Cyclocross team, we remain confident that everything is still on track for Toon to return to Cyclocross this winter. In the meantime, we wish Toon all the best with his rehabilitation and recovery.”
